Three Ways of Working

On this site I show my work using different approaches. The Monotypes contain images which are created on the press and on the plate. They are loose, spontaneous explorations of color and form to which I later add drawing, collage or other found items. In this way of working I am using the print as a kind of “ink blot” to stimulate my unconscious responses. I watch them grow into the finished work.

The illustrations are from a tightly rendered pencil sketch, in which I have planned out in advance what I want to see on the page, either for myself or for a client. Some are from an unpublished manuscript. I show them because I have them to share as works on their own merit and also to show recent work.

The images in the painting section show mostly older work of a transpersonal nature. These are from a series of visionary experiences, the exact nature of which is private. They come from what C.G. Jung calls the “archetypal” realm of shared human consciousness. I simply saw the images, and made them to the best of my ability.

These works were exhibited as a one-woman show during the Parliament of the World’s Religions at the headquarters of The Theosophical Society in Chicago, 1993 by the invitation of John Algeo, nat. president. These works have been exhibited in a number of other exhibitions over the years. See resume for more details.
